LIGHT UP THE WORLD

This project is in honour of Nichola Goddard, a Papua New Guinean born Canadian who was killed in combat while serving with the Canadian military in Afghanistan. The general objective of the project is to improve the quality of infrastructure in health care facilities in rural Papua New Guinea, relating to facility lighting. To address this issue, solar powered LED lighting systems are installed in the rural aid posts, health centres and other rural health facilities throughout the country. Light up the World [LUTW] has signed an agreement with ATprojects to be the lead partner organization in coordinating and implementing this project. ATprojects Inc. is the point organization in Papua New Guinea for all solar LED lighting system installations in the rural aid posts, health centres and other rural health facilities. And last year the project was able to install 134 solar units in 63 rural health facilities that provide basic health care to 157,400 people, this means that over one million rural people are directly benefiting from this project.
